An annual lecture series in honor of Professor Stanisław Gołąb has been established to commemorate the 125th anniversary of his birth in 2027. Stanisław Gołąb was an eminent Polish geometer, a distinguished member of the Kraków School of Mathematics, and a longtime professor of mathematics at the AGH University of Krakow. The inaugural Gołąb Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Henryk Iwaniec, will take place on 30 June.

Henryk Iwaniec
Henryk Iwaniec is a professor emeritus at Rutgers University, who works on number theory.
Henryk Iwaniec was born in 1947 in Elbląg, Poland. He received his PhD from the University of Warsaw in 1972. Professor Iwaniec was awarded the Shaw Prize in 2015. He also received, among others, the Ostrowski Prize (2001), the Cole Prize in Number Theory (2002), the Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition (2011), and the Doob Prize (2017). Professor Iwaniec was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Helsinki (1978) and Berkeley (1986) as well as a plenary speaker at ICM 2006 in Madrid. He is a fellow of the the American Mathematical Society. Professor Iwaniec is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences (USA) and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
